A special commission for Roundabout, Ed Cruikshank’s Roundabout Revolving Table translated the project’s ethos into material form. The piece is the site at which conversations and dialogues across cultures, ethnicities, and artistic vocabularies, the crux and the objective of Roundabout, physically take place. The steel center of the revolving table is inscribed in Braille with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s quote, “I have decided to stick with love, hate is too great a burden to bear.” Making up the rest of the tabletop is a radiating arrangement of 108 timber sections in reference to the 108 artists included in Roundabout.
